Komohana Research and Extension Center

Komohana Research and Extension Center
University of Hawai‘i at Hilo

The Komohana Research & Extension Center‘s mission is to support the success of Hawaii‘s agriculture, promote strong and healthy communities, and to encourage the sound stewardship of Hawaii‘s land and natural resources. It is a partnership between federal, state, and local governments and has the responsibility for providing science-based information and educational programs in agriculture, natural resources, and human resources. The addition and renovations to the Center include a new 2-story laboratory wing, and renovations to the faculty offices and support spaces. The new building completes the edge of the landscaped quadrangle, creating a place for gathering, interaction, and community functions. A new façade consisting of defined arcades, renewed exterior finishes and sunshades tie the complex together.

This facility was completed in 2009 with a construction cost of $12M
