Doris Duke’s Shangri La Playhouse

The Playhouse is a poolside pavilion located adjacent to the ocean on the west end of the property.  The Playhouse features a large living room, small kitchen, and two bedroom suites.  Inspired by the Persian palace Chehel Sutun, the large lanai with a painted wood ceiling is supported by fourteen columns, facing the pool.  The Playhouse currently functions as a space for public programs.

An automatic wet fire sprinkler system and a Split DX HVAC (ductless and ducted type) design were provided by MEH.
