What We Do

Background

Mechanical Engineers of Hawaii Corporation (MEH) started as a Hawaii based company in 1978. The principal Louis T.L. Cheng, President, has been providing consulting services in Hawaii for over 40 years. We have a total of 15 employees on our staff. MEH is blessed with very loyal and long time employees. Most of our staff has been with the firm longer than 15 years.

MEH has licensed Professional Engineers (P.E.) in Mechanical Engineering and Fire Protection (F.P.E). We also have Commissioning Authorities (CxA) certified by the AABC Commissioning Group (ACG) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professionals(LEED AP). Both the CxA and LEED APs are capable of engineering a sustainable solution for the client. MEH has also broadened their engineering and fire protection services to include licensed engineers in the states of California, Nevada and Guam.

For the past three decades, MEH has provided engineering design (utilizing the latest versions of AutoCAD and Revit) consultation and construction administration services to a very wide array of project types that include clients in the federal, state, and city government, and private entities. MEH provides practical engineering solutions to implement a wide array of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems. A few notable systems include but are not limited to Solar Hot Water Heating, Water Heat Recovery, and Thermal Storage & Co-Generation.

During the past eight years MEH has incorporated LEED into projects to answer today’s growing energy concerns. These LEED projects implement sustainable solutions into the design to optimize output while using minimal resources. Energy conservation is an important factor in every client’s bottom line. MEH understands this requirement and is able to implement sustainable concepts to achieve an owner’s goal of lowering their energy consumption.

MEH has successfully completed plans, specifications, and cost estimates for more than 1000 projects for Private Owners, local and Federal Government agencies. We participate in new construction and repair/replacement projects. Our firm specializes in Mechanical Repair, Renovations, Alterations and Upgrades, including infrastructure repair and construction of industrial type facilities. Projects completed range from schools, hospitals, laboratories, shopping centers, housing developments, airport major renovations, museums, drydocks, NASA telescope facilities, etc.
